If you are reading this, chances are you tried to access the music collection and was redirected here.
The old design is being phased out for a better one. There was will be a transitional period until the next design, as a result, there will be no public Comiket 84 collection.
If you would like to take a early look at the new design, please drop me a note on twitter or email (y at vermiliongrey).
Some thoughts on the design trial
The purpose of the old design was to test a concept that aimed to display albums efficiently and elegantly.
It aimed to transform downloading albums from a tedious task of hunting and gathering into an experience reminiscent of a gallery, a singular collection that focused on the artwork and the content.
It was miles above the caveman ways of the spreadsheet and it was (in my opinion) probably better designed than most websites of a similar scope.
But that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved. After all, design should not be benchmarked comparatively. A design should solve a problem to the utmost and not just be better than the alternatives.
The next designs will build upon the foundations of the previous design in some significant ways. It will aim to realize the overall objective of the music system which is to “gracefully maximize the good music users download.”
What this means is that you will have more decision making abilities to help you download better music in a more efficient manner.
You may have noticed inklings of these elements hidden in the previous design and in the new design, they will be fully realized.
The new design is available for preview to those interested. In turn, you will have to give me feedback and help me curate C84. If you’re interested, please drop me a note on Twitter or via email.
There is no launch date for the design. You should either check back during C85 or follow me on twitter (where I’ll post any updates).
